Double Buggy or Buggy Board for a newborn and 34 month toddler?

We live in a hilly area, walk about 10,000 steps a day - a morning and afternoon walk (to the park, shops etc.).

Would it be better to get a double buggy (the sidebyside ones) or a buggy board?

baby is due in Jan 2025, and toddler will be short of 3 years by then. He’s a reluctant walker, but I imagine by then he’ll want to walk a bit more.

Buggy board. We had that age gap and a double buggy would have been more trouble than it was worth. He quite happily stood on the board until he was about 4, and then we swapped to a scooter. If you're planning on older one going to preschool as well, there's no point having a double buggy with only one baby in for most of the time.
ETA, I had no trouble with back ache. It was more annoying to push but a double buggy would have been more annoying still!

Unless you have loadsa money, I strongly recommend getting a second hand buggy / pram / whatever.
My 2.5 year old didn’t like the buggy board so I have a side by side double stroller (£100 on fb market place). If you decide to get a double stroller, makesure the weight limit will be suitable for your 3 year old. Some only go up to 16kg, some up to 22kg

Double. Hated the buggy board, my pram and buggy board combo meant it felt like pushing a tank and my toddler 33 months refused to stand on it.

We did a combo of things : carrier and single pram and then when my baby came out of a pram we got an out and about single. My toddler used to largely walk and then rest by sitting on the front step of the buggy and for the last year has ridden on the top.

If I had my time again - I would have had a double out and about. We live rurally and they are great buggies for off terrain

That’s the buggy we’re looking at - either the single or double out and about. I’m thinking now that I should try a buggy board with my toddler and see if he takes to it, if he doesn’t, I guess it would dictate we get a double. We definitely plan on more children (have to wait 2 years between each one due to previous c section at full dilation).

did you have both the single and double out and about? what age was your toddler when you went to the single?
