Toddler put hands in mouth after touching chipped paint on lamppost

Is there a danger to this? I'm worried about lead poisoning. Lead paint has been banned since the 90s so there's no chance the council would paint a lamp post with lead paint is there? Logic tells me no but googles saying it can still be found in some metal paints.

He will be absolutely fine. Do you suffer from health anxiety OP?

TenThousandSpoons · 12/07/2024 15:56

He’ll be fine. I don’t know about lead paint on lamp posts but a one off lick after touching it would be a negligible amount even if it was lead paint.

Honestly this wouldn’t have even registered with me. Forget about it.

First child by any chance OP?

(he will be fine and has probably/will definitely put worse in his mouth)

Unless he nibbled his way all the way to the top, he'll be fine!

Prepare yourself for other undesirable tasting sessions too.

It won't be lead paint. In any case, touching it won't do any harm. Think of how often we touch street furniture; it must happen all the time that we do this and, probably without realising, touch our mouths sometime afterwards.

Have you posted about lead paint before?

He'll be fine
