A course for new fathers

Hi everyone,

I am after a little advice/ support.

I am a father of 2 and have found parenting amazing but very challenging. I have constantly felt behind the curve when it comes to simple things like packing a bag to take on days out or understanding the routine, breastfeeding, weaning you name it! I get there in the end but I haven't been able to support my partner in the moment (who is also experiencing this for the first time).

I think men don't do enough homework prior to becoming a parent and the emotional labour then sits with the mother.

I want to change this and am in the process of creating a course for new fathers that covers the basics.

  • pregnancy by trimester
  • the birth
  • month by month breakdown for the first year.

Each section will focus on mums well-being, dad well-being, babies development and then practical tools and explainers.

I have a midwife, fitness coach, nutritionist and infant development expert on board but what I really need is first hand experiences from mothers who perhaps haven't been supported like they should have.

I would love to hear some examples of what your partner didn't know or do so I can include it in my course.

Any support you can give me would be much appreciated!

Thank you

We got a lot of advice about how to take care of the baby. But not about me. I had an awful post birth and was screaming in pain for about a week. It took my husband a while to find someone who could help so he looked after during that time. Even just the simple things like taking care of my wound, he had to learn.
