4 week old cluster feeding?

My baby is just over 4 weeks old. He is bottle fed breast milk. Hes had a big appetite so far and can have between 4 and 5oz every feed between 3 and 4 hours. This evening, through the night he’s woken up every 2 hours and fallen asleep whilst being fed and hasn’t taken more than 2and a half oz at a time, I’m just wondering if this is normal. I didn’t think bottle bed babies cluster fed or that this was a time where he could be having a growth spurt.

Sounds normal to me, I suppose if it’s breast milk in the bottle it’s passing through very easily and would be the same as from breast for cluster feeding! When mine was four weeks he was sometimes wanting to be on boob every half hour in the evening, weeks later still does that before sleeping. If he’s sleeping more inbetween could defo be a growth spurt.

Although just read this was through the night - if he’s falling asleep during the feed , is the room too hot , make sure it’s between 16-20 degrees, helps them to sleep better

yeah the room is 20 degrees so I just adjust what he’s sleeping in accordingly and he doesn’t seem to be too hot. Thank you for your reply I will keep an eye on it

Do you ever feed straight from the breast?

I wonder if baby needs more of the 'hind milk' which expressed milk may not always contain but breast direct does?

I have tried but I have really flat nipples and I struggle to get him to latch. He ends up starving and stressed and it’s just a nightmare tbh I did try whilst in the hospital but bought a pump instead

To be honest I think I am expressing hind milk still as I refrigerate some from each time I express and it separates into watery milk with like creamy stuff on top
