How to manage car ride?

So 2.5 yo ds is absoloutley fine. As he loves transport going on drives is great as he loves seeing what different ones we see

our 6 month old can be a bit temperamental. She’s fine when she needs a sleep, she’ll nap. If she wakes early after about 10 mins she is screeching inconsolable. She really hates the car atm

we have a 1hr 15 min drive tomorrow to a family do. How do I cope? We want to time it with naps for way there. But I’m scared she’ll wake early and scream??

any tips :(

well she might do

and you just crack on and / or stop for 10 to give her some water and a cuddle

we have all been there and for much longer than this duration!

No definitely it isn’t too long of a drive

my worry is being on the motorway in an area where we can’t stop just yet

i feel silly but her cry obviously upsets me and sometimes in the car it’s piercing so hard for my husband to drive In

yes it’s awful
but… you need to get to where you’re going

You just carry on until it’s safe to stop. Or if possible, you sit in the back seat so you can distract and comfort if she wakes.

One of mine did this on the school run , there and back , morning and evening for months. It was awful. Even big sibs couldn't pacify him.

You just need to crack on. We've had some awful drives to the south of France but they're all good travellers now.

Just do it? It's really not very far. You can't dictate your life by your kids.

We travelled mostly by train when the dc were small, it meant I could hold/breastfeed dc when they were small and engage face to face and get up and walk down the carriage when they were toddlers. Does it have to be a car ride?

Ear plugs

Put her in the front so she can see you. I insisted mine stay in the back and it was a stupidity. Screaming babies are not safer when mum is losing her mind.

I sat in the back with dd on longer drives. It was really awful because I get travel sickness and even medicated I was puking. It was a necessity though.

im not sure if I would have fit with another child though. I think you may just have to stop frequently.

Was literally about to type the same. I was holding Miss Rachael up on the iPad for an hour to stop the crying, in the backseat going down bendy winding roads and wanted to hurl.
