Swimming

Can you please advise me on how to dress my 6 month old for swimming? I've got some Huggies swim nappies and I'm purchasing a splash about happy nappy. Would a swimming costume suffice? Or would she need something warmer?

Thank you 🩵

It really depends on the pool you are going to and how warm it is. I go to a warm leisure centre pool and most of the babies wear normal swim costumes (usually the longer sunsafe ones but I assume that’s because people use them on holiday as I don’t think they make much difference to warmth). Some friends go to a cooler pool where wetsuits are required.

Also some pools do require the double swim nappy and others are happy with just one.

Yeah depends on the pool. But swim nappy and a happy nappy will be double protection. I did find with my under 1 it was best to have a swim suit which kept him warmer- was a pain to put on and get off but was worth it as saved him getting cold immediately

A swimming costume with a Huggies swim nappy should be fine for a 6-month-old in a heated pool. However, if you're concerned about keeping her warm, a splash about happy nappy (especially fleece-lined) is a great option for extra warmth. You can also consider a rashguard for additional sun protection if outdoors.

Depends on your baby really. Mine always runs cooler so I do swim nappy, happy nappy with a full length swimsuit (arms and legs) and she seems OK!
