Bedding for 2.5 yo

Hi, I have a 2.5yo, he still sleeps in a cotbed with the bars up. Recently he has seemed to outgrow some of his 18-36 month sleeping bags height-wise. We have introduced a duvet instead, but he's not taken to it at all. It's been a good few weeks now and he still gets annoyed and/or cries every single bed time about this duvet and chucks it out of his cot. We wait until he's asleep and then put it over him, but every morning he doesn't have it on, and some nights he wakes in the night without it on, I'm presuming because hes cold. His feet were freezing this morning!

I'm just wondering if there are any alternatives, like sleeping bag type things for bigger kids maybe?!

I think the reason there aren't is because most children move to a bed.

However while he is still in a cot, I'd put a jumper and socks on him as well if he kicks the duvet off.

He might take to it better in a bed!

I don't see how the two are related? DC1 had the sides up until they were 3.5 and moved to a duvet just before they were 3 with no issues whatever. I definitely won't be taking the bars off anytime soon as they generally sleep well now and we've also just got rid of the dummy so don't want to jeopardise their good sleep with them getting out of bed a million times a night as I'm sure they would!

How about a onesie with fluffy socks?

Warmer pyjamas and socks. I really think better going through it now, when it’s summer and some warm PJs will stop him from getting cold than doing it in when it’s freezing and the middle winter because whatever toddler bags you find now will be outgrown and/or he’s climbed the cot and needs a big bed. Also does he have a pillow? That can help them realise it’s a big bed like mummy, daddy, older brother and I found it also encouraged them to stay in one spot rather than flipping themselves about.

We have a 3.5y old still in cot with bars up and loves her sleeping bags still! Won't sleep without one so glad we've not had a heat wave summer as only got 2.5 and 1 tog bags now for 3-6y.
Can get them off Amazon. Pricey but if it means they sleep through then I'm all about throwing money at it 😂

This company do 3-6y then hoping will be receptive to a duvet haha.

Seems like the lighter weight togs are currently unavailable though so might have to look into more for that, I'm sure there were other companies when I looked but more expensive I think.

Also have a nearly 5 month old and up for 1-2 night feeds so don't need another child waking us up in the night!

Some brands like Love to Dream make a kind of padded sleepsuit with fold over feet that goes up to age 4. I have a similar dilemma and am thinking of trying some of these but haven’t brought them yet.

Thanks for so many suggestions! Will definitely look up the brands mentioned for larger sleeping bags.

He doesn't have a pillow, just because he's never asked for one and we haven't seen a need for it, but that's easy to do and definitely worth a try. Thinking back, DC1 did have a pillow from ages younger than this so maybe DC2 will like one. Will order some toddler pillows for them to try too.

With the bars, we took them off DC2 when they were about 3.5, we did feel they were getting too old from them then and they were starting to visit friends houses and notice their friends didn't have bars anymore. We replaced them with a bedguard but they only needed that for about a month or so anyway, and never fell out the bed or tried to leave in the middle of the night or anything. She had a baby gate on her room so she knew she wouldn't have been able leave the room anyway.

There are a few fleece sleep suits with feet. We had the same issue.
