Night training - how do you start?

Hi
My DD is dry during the day now and has been for about 6months (she is 3 in May) but her nappies in the morning are still really wet.

How do you start training at night-time and are there any books aimed at her that would help her understand?

Thanks

she is still very young. Why rush? I would wait until she is ready. Dry nights, not wanting to wear a nappy at night, are all signs. I know lots of children who wear protection at night and they are 5/6. Sorry probably not the answer you're looking for.

Well, you don't really 'train' them to become dry at night. You have a couple of options - wait until the nappies become dry most of the time and then just take them off. Or, if you have a feeling she can manage it but is perhaps doing a big wee in the nappy just after she wakes up, then just give it a try for a few nights and see if any success. You could ask if she wants to ahve a go?
tbh though at the age she is I would wait and see for another 6 months or so.

I dont think you can train them as such as they need to be able to go that amount of time without peeing and it is something to do with hormone production which suppresses the urine. My dd was around the age of 3 when she became dry at night but she had been having dry nappies in the morning and also decided she didnt want to wear nappies at night any more.

I have just night time trained my dd, who will be 4 in July. I would also suggest leaving it a little longer - I did my son at about 2.5 and it was a nightmare with many nights of sodden bedding and pyjamas before he got the hang of it. I left my daughter to 3.5 and she has only wet the bed once!

She is a heavy drinker and her nappies were always wet in the morning but she wanted to be like her friends who were dry at night, so this may have helped.
