Soak her in the bath and take her a bit late?

Beamur · 02/07/2024 11:21

Send her in and explain when you drop off.
If your OH can't be trusted to close a gate and keep his child safe be grateful it was only pen. I'd be giving him a rocket up his arse he wouldn't forget in a hurry.

Send her in. My DC drew cats whiskers on their faces with permanent marker once. They went to school.

He has already had the rocket up the ass, the gates is there because of my craft things lucky I keep the sharps in a locked tool box, I guess she's going to nursery

Oh no, sounds like quite the adventure with the pens! If the ink is permanent and you don’t have time for a bath, you might want to call the nursery to explain the situation. They’ll understand and may have some suggestions for handling it. Alternatively, you could try using baby wipes or gentle makeup remover to see if that helps lighten the marks. Either way, it’s just one of those parenting moments that will make for a funny story later on! Good luck!

Bar soap like Shield is amazing at getting off felt pens, not sure about permanent, but won't hurt to try!

My daughter covered her hands the day before she started school, this got it right off. It's also handy to have about for getting stains out of clothing.

Be grateful it wasn’t the carpet and send her in. They’ll have seen it plenty before.

I must have very low standards as it wouldn't even occur to me to not send a child into nursery (or indeed school) because they'd covered themselves in pen! I will note that nursery and school both also happily send them home covered in god knows what, and they routinely come out of school with all their clothes covered with board pen, so it feels pretty tit for tat!

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 02/07/2024 13:02

If I’d not sent my daughter to school due to being covered in pen, she’d never have gone to nursery or infant school at all!

And having white hair, anything - ketchup, felt tip, Sharpie, chalk - would give her an impromptu punk vibe which would stain & took forever to disappear. Even when she had her pen licence in juniors, she come home with blue blobs in her hair as she had a propensity to hold her pen in her hand pointing upwards when she was lost in thought.

We termed it ‘Thinking Pen’.

And you don’t want to know what her chosen medium was one day when she was a little over 18 months & had woken, silently & early from her afternoon nap. Let’s just say it involved disinfectant, a trip to B&Q as soon as DH came home & an overnight decorating session.

On the upside, she’s now an illustrator, speaking at conferences around the world lol!

And yes, if she’s using a fountain pen or ink, her (now slightly darker) blonde hair has the odd spot of thinking pen.

(Handy hint, alcohol hand gel works wonders for permanent marker).

No carpet but the wall and the door was involved 🤣
