8 month old no longer wants milk

My 8 month old (8 months today) has slowly been reducing/ refusing her milk since weaning at 6 months. It’s been gradual but we’re now at the point where some days she’s only having 7/8 oz total. Some days I can get her up to 15. I try to add it to meals and every day she ends up having ready break so I can at least get a good amount in her for breakfast (leftover from her bottle normally).

I have to say she is a fabulous eater, and I wonder if this is the problem, has she just gone off the milk because of this ? I home cook 90% of her meals so I can make sure they are all packed with vitamins and goodness, she will literally eat anything and lives strong flavours so whilst I’m over the moon she’s such a good eater I’m worried about the lack of milk meaning she may be missing out on certain nutrients diet alone can’t give her ? She’s fully weaned so has 3 meals a day and she’s exclusively formula fed. I offer her 8oz in the morning before breakfast so I know she’s hungry, today she took 2 and didn’t want any more! I then offer another bottle around 3 and a bottle around bed. Sometimes it’s like she drinks enough to take the edge off and then she will refuse the rest. I give her yoghurts and add cheese to some meals for some dairy. She has readybreak most mornings with fruit puree. She will have anything from salmon and veg to curries or chicken dinners, bolognese etc etc ! She has lots of fruit and veg.

Is this normal or do I need to be concerned at the lack of milk she’s having and possibly missing out on certain important nutrients. I’ve looked at vitamin drops as well, which I may start giving to her daily to top up her thiamine and riboflavin etc?

thank you !!

No advice but my little boy was the exact same. He is now 17 months. He never really liked milk and as soon as we started weaning like yours he took to food thank god as milk was a struggle. We could eventually only give him milk when he was asleep quickly removing dummy and putting the bottle in. I give a multi vitamin everyday and probiotic. Like you I always make sure he has ready break/weetabix and give as much yoghurt and cheese in his diet. I guess some might say we’re lucky as my son goes to sleep without milk whereas I know others whose babies rely on milk even during the night. I spent so much time worrying over it but there was nothing more I could do, my thinking is at least they are eatting and doctors / HV have no concerns. Currently we give milk in breakfast which is a few oz, then before bed when he is drowsy I might if I am lucky get a few oz in him. A month ago I could generally get maybe 5oz in before bed so it was about 10oz max a day, now I am lucky if it’s 1oz before bed x

DD was the same. Lived in the States at the time where it’s standard to see paediatrician for all this routine stuff and they said it was fine, just include plenty of dairy in her diet and give vitamin drops. She’s now 7 so didn’t do her any harm.

No pearls of wisdom sorry as we are doing similar here but can help with the vitamins, HV gave us vitamin drops for bottle to start using when we drop below 600ml formula a day 💖 hoping someone will comment on your thread with wisdom
