my 4 yo ds just about likes Spidey, Bing and duggee. He won’t really watch telly always been that way

however DD turns one next month and even as a young baby is the telly was on she’d turn her head and look haha! I think she’ll like things when she’s older and I allow her to actually watch telly (I mean when I specifically put it on for her, right now I don’t cos she’s young but let her join in if she’s around big bro/cousins etc)

she’s been with her older cousin (girl , 5) and was glued to gabbys dollhouse hha but her cousin informed me that’s a big girl tv show not for little girls so is that a bit old?

is Bluey good?

don’t want cocomelon or peppa as I’ve heard that can make kids a bit cranky??

We were pretty strict with tv at that age but my daughter loved the wiggles, good clean fun and lots of singing. Also Emma wiggle has her own program now Emma memma which is fully inclusive and teaches sign language.

Yeah it’ll be more for when she’s older 1.5/2 onwards! As DS never cared I never had anything on just the Alexa playing music realy!

good idea thank you

Duggee, JoJo and gran gran and Blues and all favourites here. I’ve never watched Gabby’s Dolls house but know a couple of my friends’ girls watch it and they’re 5+.

Something Special on C Beebies with Mr Tumble is nice for little ones. She might like that. A different topic each episode.

ClonedSquare · 26/06/2024 16:50

CBeebies is the main channel we let our son watch,

When he was smaller, he adored Teletubbies, Baby Club, Twirlywoos, Tiny Wonders, In The Night Garden. All the babyish ones that don't really have a plot per se but just lots of sights, sounds and colours.

From about 18 months he started liking more story based shows like Hey Duggee, Jojo and GranGran, Octonauts, Moon and Me. He also started watching Thomas and Friends, which he's been obsessed with ever since.

Sorry I thought you were looking for your older kid. Still yes to some David Attenborough, and Bluey!

Anything on cbeebies is good - educational and demographically mixed. Hate the American cartoon crap- grates on me!

Superscientist · 26/06/2024 18:31

My 4 yo likes jo Jo and gran gran, Sarah and duck, topsy and Tim, any Julia Donaldson, moana, toy story frozen and paw patrol but the paw patrol has to be managed as it sends her a bit loopy and she always wants more where as with the others if we say 2 episodes or when this one is finished turn off the TV she does so.

She also likes Lego masters and the great pottery throw down and used to like the masked singer and masked dancer

Sausagedog101 · 26/06/2024 18:32

Paddington bear and Peter rabbit!

Clawedino · 26/06/2024 19:07

That's a good thing that your son wouldn't watch it. Mine has it on too much and I'm trying to cut back. He is almost 2 and a half.
He has liked:
All the Julia Donaldson films - particularly snail and the whale, stickman, the highway rat
Blippi (although I think this has been said to be overstimulating so we don't tend to anymore)
Anything related to sharks or dinosaurs (probably not helpful to you!)
Cbeebies

We also banned cocomelon and luckily he isn't interested anymore! As that is very overstimulating.

Clifford the big red dog, waffle dog, 64 zoo Lane and pingu.

mummyluv19 · 10/08/2024 13:18

My little one loves The Wiggles, Bluey, Dream Team Kids, and Gabbys Dollhouse!

MJB25 · 10/08/2024 13:56

Miss Rachel on YouTube. My DS is hypnotised watching it! Also likes night garden.

Singleandproud · 10/08/2024 14:12

You want shows that are puppets, stop frame animation, real people or older style cartoons.

Baby Einstein, Sesame Street, Rosy and Jim that kind of show that we used to watch.

Plenty of research to show that newer fast paced cartoons with lots going on in the background and quick scene changes can impact young children's development quite substantially.

Even the difference between older and the is quite big in terms of frames per second with much more movement in the new ones.

Sunshine9218 · 10/08/2024 18:28

Come Outside, Hey Dugee, Charlie and Lola, Super Simple Songs, Peppa, Bing, Little Princess, Mr Tumble

Beezee098 · 11/08/2024 01:18

Spot the dog
Bluey
Morphle
Alphablocks
Peter rabbit
