Where should baby nap in 2 bed flat with hybrid nursery/ office

We live in a 2 bed flat with our 8m DD who, up until now, has mostly only napped in the carrier / pram (: but now we're trying to do more naps at home which has tricky logistics when my partner works from home 3/4 days a week

DD has been sleeping at night in the second bedroom since c.5m and my partner works in there in the day. We've been doing the first nap of the day at home in her cot / contact napping which has worked well as my partner can work at the kitchen table / she's awake before he needs to log on. I'd like to start doing to occasional afternoon nap at home but not sure wheres best for her to sleep when my partner needs the office for calls etc.

Was thinking either maybe a travel cot in our room (takes up a bit too much room / faff of putting up and down every day) or getting barriers on our bed and a video monitor to she can sleep there and I won't have to worry about her rolling off. Wondering what others in flats with home offices do for naps!

Work in living area or main bedroom during naptime? Or if poss work and walk :) assuming other parent is available to be in the house of course. Love a walk and talk meeting.

We had the same issue when DS1 was a baby.

I either put him in the pram in the hallway or in the baby Bjorn bouncer in the living room. Every now and then I would put him in the middle of our bed but stopped doing that once he started to roll over.

Until you can get a 3 bed house/flat (so you could use the smallest room as a study) then your DH will have to take all his calls and work in the living room or kitchen whilst your DD is sleeping or playing in her bedroom. My 11 month old has taken all her naps in her cot since she was about 3 months old.

Another alternative is that he works full time in the office, which might be the most practical option.

I'd go with your bed. You can buy loads of fantastic bed barriers, some even slot down into themselves so you don't have to keep taking them on and off. You can even snuggle in for a nap too if you need one 😊

She goes in the nursery and your partner works in the other bedroom, kitchen living room… To me them being used to their own bed and routines is vital and a partner can either work at a table or go into the office as it’s a home first not an office first ….

Your partner doesn't have an office anymore, realistically. It's now her room, if her cot won't fit in yours. So your partner starts working elsewhere so she can have her room.

You could use your bed, but you run the risk of her deciding she prefers your bed and wanting to do all her sleeping there!

Partner works in the bedroom on a small desk/in the kitchen. It's better that they get used to that now, really, as it'll need to be the case when they're older. I say that as someone who works from home with a now two year old!

Long term it might be better to set up a desk in your bedroom so he's not constantly shifting rooms. Not ideal of course but you gotta do what you gotta do - DH did it for years!

I’d say partner needs to work in your room? That way DC naps in their own bed.

All of our children have always had their daytime naps in the pram in the hall or kitchen. Even up to 3 years old. I could count on one hand the number of naps they've had in a cot and that's only been through a total fluke if they've fallen asleep on one of us or the couch or something and then been moved to the cot. I wouldn't put them in our own bed especially not at 8 months old.
