Plus size baby carriers

Hello I'm just wondering if anyone can recommend a baby carrier for a plus size mum?

Due next month and we are taking baby on holiday with us end of the year he will be around 3 month old, we will obviously have his pram but I think a carrier will be easier for walking around the parks.

I know slings have more stretch/room but I feel like a carrier with clips will feel more secure, I need something for a size 24/26 if anyone can suggest anything please?

You might want to check safety of you're plus size with such a young baby. I would imagine that with larger frames means increased risk of overheating and positioning issues. It's very important that you follow TICKS.

I know ergo used to do one for tall mums so that might be worth looking at.

Personally I found wraps (particularly stretchy one when baby v small) felt more secure than anything with clips. Could also leave it wrapped round and pop baby in and out when needed (so I didn't have to get pram out when driving school run for example). Was a few sizes smaller than you but found standard length ones roomy enough so a longer one would easily do.

Where do you carry your weight, OP? Around the middle or more pear shaped? Big boobs?

I would head to a sling library and try some out. I am a size 18 although pear shaped so a smaller waist - my ergo baby 360 seems to have plenty more room to give than I need but it very much depends on your waist size, bust etc.

Failing that, could the baby’s other parent do the carrying?

Check out tula. They have a few plus size women modeling their carriers.

We had a carrier but DD refused it. Would only go in the wrap sling which i found more secure and comfy anyway. Some have more length in them.

Tula are sold by babipur alongside other brands. I always find their fb babupir hangout group helpful for sling advice. Worth joining and asking. Their customer service is also amazing.

Also you may find it easier to use a carrier /sling (especially on plane). But you may still want a buggy as it helps carry all the other baby stuff you'll want out and about.
