Hi all,
My 4 year old is enrolled to a rugby for toddlers lesson which he really enjoys. Since the start of the new term of this particular class which started back in May they have introduced a "player of the week" certificate which the trainer gives to one or two kids at the end of each session. This is where the problem started.
It's now been almost 7 weeks since the term started and my little one has not been awarded a certificate. Every other kid has atleast got it atleast once, and there are few kids who have now got it almost thrice in a row.
I understand it's for someone who is doing well and I watch my son play and participate and he is definitely up to the mark as most of the good players. I initially ignored but now as a mum I feel sorry for him that he's been deprived of this little recognition week after week regardless of his efforts.
I've not brought it up with them yet but now I'm thinking if I really should.
In my opinion for a class of 3.5-4 year olds such certificates are not needed, if they want to give such a thing they need to do in a systematic way to ensure every child is rewarded. This has already bashed my little one's confidence and he thinks he's not deserving of it.
Should I just ignore? It's just a certificate and not the end of the world I know, but it is to a 4 year old.
Any advice on how to handle this?
Thank you in advance.xx
