Domestic routines

Just wondering what people’s domestic routines are? I’m struggling to keep on top of the house and wondering if there’s a better way to do things.
2 dc, aged 3 and 1 and DH. I work 3 days a week, DH works full time. He’s out the house 6am-6pm 5/6 days a week. DH’s day(s) off change each week but if it falls on my working day he has DC. My parents have them normally one day a week and they’re in nursery 1 day a week.

I don’t have any child free time in the week, other than evenings (not complaining, feel very fortunate that I can work 3 days) but I maybe feel pressure that working part-time means I should be able to keep on top of the house more (pressure I put on myself).

I’m okay at putting laundry on and drying it, putting clothes away and ironing not so much, always seem to fall behind with that.
I force myself to clean once a week and I do this religiously but I’m doing it once the children are in bed so probably spend 2 hours doing what I feel is the minimum. Deep cleans just don’t seem possible. DH and I do tidy up every night once the kids are in bed.

Paying for a cleaner is out the option really, knew that when I went back part-time. We normally get 1 day a week as a family when DH and I are both off so I don’t do cleaning then, prioritise family time.

DH doesn’t do any cleaning but he does do other ‘jobs’, examples - walks the dog twice a day even before work, he cuts the grass, washes the cars.

interested to hear others routines. Thanks

its Hard isn’t it managing everything! I follow a “do everything to completion” sort of method. So by that I mean- if I put a wash on- I will hang to dry- fold and put away on the same day.
when I do bedding I do all the beds.

i also sort out as I put away example if I’m putting laundry away and see socks with a hole they go straight out and in bin, child’s clothes too small in a bag. I keep a carrier bag in their closets for donation.
i do the same with groceries, dishes etc.

i also write a meal plan and cook accordingly- we have leftovers twice in the week so it’s not cooking every day.

i have a chores system in which I always do something a day- eg Wednesdays I change all bedding.

but I think the main thing I’ve learnt since being a parent is I just do things as I go along instead of waiting for the day I can do a deep clean. So sometimes it means I clean out a draw because a spoon was in the wrong place but in that way it all gets done without feeling as overwhelming.

my husband does do tasks but the initiative is from me! My kids are 2 and 9 months so no help yet- toddler helps clear table!
