Potential ADHD

My child is 9. They argue and pick on their sibling constantly. They talk a lot and very intensely.
They’re very emotional and short fused. They often forget things they have been taught and need their memory jogged. They’re quite exhausting. Does this sound like ADHD and what should I be thinking about in order to ensure I am supporting them in the best way possible eg certain types of secondary school education/ how to manage home life so that it’s easier for them?

well, it doesn't matter if they do or they don's as far as parenting is concerned. look up a few reliable resources on parenting a child with these issues.

ADHD tends to be a lot more specific than that, so you'd really need to think of some more detail.

For example the talking a lot; does it ramp up near bedtime? Are they able to gey to sleep, stay asleep etc.

With the forgetfulness, is it almost constant? Does it seem like they literally have no attention span? When you remind then, do they still not remember?

Here's a link to the child diagnostic pathway which explains the process. There's a screening tool that is used to determine wether an assessment is warranted (a GP would ask that this was filled in to see if the relevant criteria were met)

I have a 9 year old with ADHD. It’s not always as straightforward as in PP’s post - my DS has always slept well and when he’s actually on a task, he can concentrate ok. I’ll try and list his behaviours here!

Argumentative
Defiant
A wind up
Can’t cope with boredom and in situations where he can’t escape to find something to do
Impulsive and reckless
Very easily frustrated
Loses things often
Rushes school work
Always going for the stupid/dangerous things to do, e.g. throwing stones in the river, has to get gigantic rocks and can’t be trusted with them
Does reckless things to see what would happen - impulse driven
Hyperfocuses when absorbed in a task - screen, book, Lego
In school, frequently leaves his seat when he shouldn’t, chatting, shouting out
