1 year old DD just started walking, shoes or no shoes?

Hi everyone

DD has been taking some steps for a couple of weeks but only a few here and there, yesterday she got up and just started walking everywhere!

It's summer (I know the weather is pretty horrid) but want to spend some time outdoors and ideally wouldn't want her to be barefoot) so I was thinking of taking her to Clark's today to get 2 pairs, some proper sandals for the warm weather and some comfy trainer type ones for the wetter weather however I've just searched online and it says to wait 6 weeks from when they started walking?

Just looking for some advice ☺️

Yes I wouldn't does she wear soft shoes atm she's fine to toddle about in those outside.

We used very soft leather shoes at first, I remember the brand Dotty Fish and there are others on Amazon. The shoes are super cute too.

We got 'proper' shoes after a couple more months I think, once he was walking more steadily and really toddling rather than just walking in the garden.

Soft shoes until confident for a few weeks usually 5-6 weeks was advised. I would avoid trainer style they tend to be bulkier and if more difficult to fit correctly. There is a lot of fashion over function in children’s shoes.

Ensure they are fitted and checked regularly like every six weeks as they grow really quickly.

No shoes the first couple of weeks for DG - then soft shoes then slightly harder soles

re socks, anti slip for wood floors even for our our older grand kids all sub 9 yrs old

Can you let her walk on grass initially while she's building confidence and foot muscles?

Also, my son had literally five different shoe sizes when he learned to walk, so buying two pairs every time gets expensive! Once he had them two weeks and then they were too small. Just a heads up!

Oh I can relate to this😭 £45 for a pair and a couple of weeks later they didn't fit. It hurts😅
