Hi,

I have been with my husband for 20 years and have totally run out of ideas as to what to get him for Father's Day and am now running out of time!

We have a 3 year old so I'm in charge of buying on his behalf.

He doesn't really have any interests which makes it worse! He's a classic extremely hard to buy for type of guy.

What have you got your partner or dad? ALL ideas welcome!

A Nano Wallet
Pint glass & a few beers from his fave brewery
Some of his fave snacks made into a hamper

Get a picture book like a Bluey one for him to read with your child (there's loads out for Father's Day) and a voucher for a local coffee shop for him to go to with your child and have a special cake.

I don't think you have to buy a present especially if it's "must buy something even though he doesn't want anything".

Go out for a meal or a nice day out!
Or how about a photo of your child in a little keyring?

Buy a voucher for a shop he likes then just send him that on email.

Very similar situation here @Herts501 😊

DS got his dad a family hand casting kit that we can all do together and some cute matching shirts for the pair of them to wear 😊

It's fathers day, not his birthday. My 1 & 2 yr old will be giving a bought card, a homemade card and probably a cheap bunch of flowers and a nice bottle of beer.

To me, Father's Day is about the kid's doing presents/kid focused gifts, not an opportunity for lots of expensive 'stuff' - it's not a second birthday. I have a 3 year old and an 11 month old and every year I get a photo book made for my husband full of photos from the previous year of him with the kids. I also add in some photos of my eldest's better drawings. It's a lovely keepsake for him. Then it's just breakfast in bed (as much as a 3 year old can do this), and this year, a trip to a local kid's theatre - so a nice family outing. The day is about him being a father, so anything that puts that front and centre fits the bill as far as I'm concerned, so it's about treasured photos of him with his children and time spent all together on the day itself

Last year I took my daughter to the local pottery painting place and she pained him a coaster for him to put his coffee cup on when working from home, fairly cheap gift that was made with love. This year she want to make him a keyring from beads. Keep it simple and some thing made with love (could even be some biscuits or cupcakes or a drawing)

Kids picked this year
Deadpool tshirt
Hat
Mug and socks set
Choc
Watch (he's wanted for a while and got it new off eBay)
Book

We've got our parents
Hammer knife tool thing
Magnetic flexi torch
Shaving set from gruum
Camera lenses attachment for phone

DC will make cards at school. DD spotted a mint choc special chocolate orange in Asda the other day and picked that out.

Neither MD or FD are days for proper presents. It was only ever about cards and maybe a token bit of chocolate for us.

Dd1 is on holiday and bringing back a much loved food souvenir for her dad. Dd2 has got him a bottle of his favourite cognac. Ds has bought him a euros sticker album and a box of stickers 😂
they’ve all thought about what he would like and I think they’ve come up with good ideas, he wants for nothing and will really love the thought they’ve put into it.
Your little one is still quite little, I think something like a framed photo of them both for his work desk (if appropriate) or just something little and personalised. At the moment it’s just another job for you but one day the pressure will be off and they will
do it for themselves!

HAF1119 · 12/06/2024 21:35

Since mine was 3 I've let him pick his dads gift on Father's Day and mine monthera day is done by him with his dad...

We had had some very random items like chilli Pringles, chocolate nuts, a pepperami 🤣 mostly he picks food though he did pick me a hand fan once....

It's quite fun and a laugh and nice for our son to genuinely pick something little to say thanks for what you do and 'I love you'

It's the little things :) the smile on the small child's face giving the thing he picked with a cuddle and kiss really is lovely!

TheChosenTwo · 12/06/2024 21:40

I will say, a few years ago ds went with his dad to the shops to get me a Mother’s Day present and he picked me a yellow squirrel candle 😂 he knew I love candles and my favourite colour is yellow, I’ve never burned it but it sits on my desk in my office and it still makes me laugh!

LadyMargaretDevereux · 12/06/2024 21:42

Crocs.

AnneButNotHathaway · 13/06/2024 10:55

Tickets to a show or an event he would enjoy attending
Something personalized that would also be useful (like a custom planner with family pictures or a mouse pad with his favorite team logo, etc)
Something he likes and is running out of (favorite cologne, aftershave, hair products if he uses that etc)
Big box of his favorite snacks
Also you can make a Father's day slideshow with his photos and your LO pictures and this would be a joint gift from both you and the kiddo.

Set up an arty activity or making activity. My kid is still young so ive put some paint on some card and put in a plastic bag. No mess. Fun. And daddy gets bookmarks.

Or buy a craft/lego set to give as a present. Kid and daddy can do it together.

olderbutwiser · 13/06/2024 12:17

Consumable/experience. Food delivery or whatever. I like the idea of the 3 year old taking him out for tea and cake.

Hi @Herts501 😊

On this Father's Day, I have a idea to give you something truly special – a lasting reminder of our bond. This Hand Casting represents the strength and love you've always shown me, captured in a moment we'll cherish forever. Just as you've held my hand through life, this sculpture will forever hold a place in my heart.

Thank you everyone for that great ideas, you saved me!

In the end I went with
A hand casting kit which was an idea directly from here and which I'd never thought of.
A book for dads giving them ideas for what to do with kids outside (Dadventures)
Socks
Hand cream
Chocolate
Plus two hand made cards that my little boy made at nursery and at a play group we go to.
Thanks again
