Help! My baby has a temperature

Just a quick one. I've had quite a nasty cold for the past couple of days and I'm pretty sure I've given it to my 3 month old daughter. She's got a temperature and a little cough. I've given her some Calpol. I'm not too worried because she seems in fairly good spirits. Is there anything else I should do? Im worried about her getting too hot, so I've just got her in a vest, but her hands and feet are pretty cold.

Probably being dramatic but this is the first time my baby has been ill. It's making me so upset to see her poorly (she's still all smiles though)

I would be very grateful for any advice 🥰

Just keep checking that she’s feeding and weeing. You can slightly lift the head of the cot if she’s snotty.

@DustyLee123 thanks!

I would dress her normally rather than just a vest. Especially if she feels cold. Check out the nhs page on fevers in babies and children.

I’d dress her normally - maybe a baby gro but no vest underneath? The NhS has a good guide for baby ages and temperatures - and when to medicate and when to see GP.
you can check her back of neck and chest to see if she fees warm in general - it’s normal for their hands and feet to feel cooler.
And if you’re Bf keep boobing lots for all the anti bodies!

I've got her in her vest and dungarees now & socks. Bless her, she's trying to be cheerful but is all hot and snotty. Thanks for the replies. I'm less worried now - it is obviously just a cold. Last night freaked me out because she was really burning up. I stood on the balcony with her for 20 minutes because her back was wet! I need to have a peruse of the NHS website. It's so hard when they are small and so helpless.

Check her temp regularly and give calpol. A temperature over 38 that doesn't come down with calpol is a concern in a baby this young so call GP if this happens.
Keep her cool and make sure she is taking enough milk and producing wet nappies, if she's not weeing as much as usual then that's a sign of dehydration so also contact GP.
If she's snuffly and finding it hard to feed there are nose syringe things you can get for babies to clear out mucus. Also vapour diffuser thingys for overnight (get a specific baby one, calpol make one)
