Weaning - Tesco food pouches

Hi! Some of the Tesco baby food pouches I have say to use immediately once opened. Others I've tried before say fine to store in fridge for 24 or 48 hours after. Is this over cautious guidance or does anyone else use next day? It just seems a waste when she's only eating small amounts from them just now (and her lips arent touching the pouch). Obviously I don't want to give her a bad tummy so if they need to go in the bin after then fine but just wanted to see what others do!

We put them in the fridge and used them next day all the time when DD was weaning. I think it's overcautious advice to say use immediately.

I would only be strict if the pouch contained rice, chicken or another food that's high risk for food poisoning.

I've used them up a day or even 2 days later sometimes.

I don’t want to be that poster, but if DC only wants a tiny bit have you thought about making some batches of purée and freezing in ice cube trays?

No don't worry! I do have some veggies batched into cubes and frozen but some days at the moment I just want to give her a bit more variety of taste or if we're going out and about for a little bit it's been easier to just grab a pouch. I'm keen to try and batch up a few more interesting things to have to hand but I just don't know where the days go at the moment 😱

I worried about this a LOT, and found that although the Ella’s pouches were more expensive, they could be frozen (or kept open in the fridge) so I decided a 90p pouch which I could confidently split into 3 portions and freeze was better (for me) than a 75p own brand one which I panicked about and binned.

Different brands have different restrictions so it’s worth checking a few. I’m sure it is fine though, and my mum definitely thought I was overreacting!

Oh that's a great idea to freeze any of the pouch I don't need on the day for another time, I hadn't thought of that thank you!

I'm feeling so much guilt with it all at the moment and feel like I have zero energy when it comes to mealtimes, so although it's not my favourite thing to use the pouches I'm finding they provide a bit of relief when I need them!

@meepmeep34 I also found that, when we moved on from first tastes, I used any leftover frozen veg cubes as an easy pasta sauce to introduce her to different textures, or as a sort of glorified spread of some toast. So a mini-freezer stash is never a bad thing, even if you think you won’t get through them all.
