Adding guide parents

Hello! So we have an almost 2 year old DD. We already have 2 couples as her guide parents, we aren’t religious, which is why they aren’t godparents.

But we’ve been talking, and we want to add another couple as DDs guide parents, due to her seeing them a lot more than one set of her other guide parents. She gets on well with them and sees them regularly. I know we didn’t have a proper official ceremony anyway, but would it be a bit wierd?

TIA.

never ever ever heard of guide parents

but 4 sets of parents three of which are “guide” parents sounds bloody odd

I'll be absolutely honest ~ I had never heard of guide parents before reading your post so had to google to find out what they are.

Having read an explanation on what guide parents are, no you don't need to keep adding this title to people who play a part in your DD's life. You chose 4 people early on in her life and have now found that a couple of other people are now playing a part in her life, more so than 2 of the people you named as guide parents.

You will find that this will happen again ~ your DD is still only 2 and your family circumstances and friendships are likely to change many times over the next 14 - 16 years for many different reasons

You can't keep adding other people in every time a family friendship changes

The most important thing for your DD is that she is loved and cherished. There is a saying something like "It takes a village to raise a child" ~ people don't need titles to play a part in helping to support and nurture children
