Toilet regression 2.5yrs

My DS1 has been great with pottying for ages. We did EC so never was and issue to transition to the toilet especially in regards to No.2's. No.1s took a while as he weed all the time! But he has been dry all day including naps since he was 2years. Nights are a hit or miss.

I kept being told once baby No.2 comes along he may regress.
Baby is not due for another couple months and I think the regression may have started.

Last week we had daily accidents once sometimes twice a day just wee. And this week it has increased. He has stopped telling us he needs the toilet altogether and today he did a No.2 in his pants foe the first time in mealy a year. I knew it may happen but thought once baby is born.

Is it normal to happen before? We have started to take him every 1.5hrs now until he geta back on track.
Is there anything else we can be doing?

I'm on a lot of parenting pages and I've read Sarah Ockwell Smith's second baby book, based on that I think it's pretty normal to see this kind of behaviour in the last trimester of pregnancy.

I haven't got that far with mine yet so I'm not speaking from experience

I recommend the book btw

Regressions are totally normal. Just persevere and it will solve itself. Don't change anything.

Actually sorry I take that back- we did find that going back to our sticker chart helped a bit during regressions. Other than that just stay consistent. No shame around accidents but consistent with messaging like "don't forget to tell mummy or daddy or one of your teachers when you need the loo" and asking if they need to go frequently. I'm sure you already have one but we have a portable potty that used to come everywhere with us and be whipped out wherever we were and we also found our second liked to take that to nursery with her.

It could simply be a regression but if it carries on, I'd recommend a GP visit to rule out constipation or a UTI. The Eric website has a lot of good info.

Thank you ladies. We went to the Gp who gaslit me and nudges me for potty training my child. And brushed it off. Saw another Gp and got a urine test in office and one sent off. Both normal. We are now on week 5 of this issue.
I made a follow up apt and want a referral to Peadiatrics.

I have startes to take him every 30mins as we did a year ago! But still having 1 big accident a day.
He is not resisting going to thw toilet he happily goes and will get on himself etc. But he is not able to feel and communicate before it happens.
I have witnessed it happening even when he is just walking and not playing (so not preoccupied).

Not had any helpful advice from people arouns me. They just keep telling me to put the nappies back on.

This was happening with my two year old who has been potty trained for nine months (she will be three in September). I think it was down to constipation. I started giving her a big bottle of squash after breakfast to encourage a bowel movement early in the day and it solved the accidents for us.
