First molars teething - how long!

Just that really! DS is almost 15 months and had the first 8 teeth by 10 months so we did have a couple of months break from teething. Now the last 3-4 weeks the molars seem to be causing lots of discomfort.

The top left has cut the whole outside edge, and the top right has cut a corner, how long roughly for the worst of it to now push through the gum? He seems to have had a rotten cold for the last 4 weeks which I know is down to nursery, but probably also because with the teething he is putting absolutely everything in his mouth. The bottom one is also really swollen and inflamed, almost like a white bubble on top of it.

He is on and off food and milk and just wondering when the worst will be over! He hasn’t ever slept through but is waking more distressed and I can’t help but think teeth are to blame in part! Please tell me it doesn’t take months for them to push through fully!

My 20mo has had 5 teeth come through at once, 2 of those being back ones and it was 6 weeks of pure torture 😭 barely ate anything so I was shoving as many purées in him as poss and the amount of neurofen he had was ridiculous. It's just one of those things where you've got no choice but to wait it out. Definitely use neurofen over Calpol as it's anti inflammatory.

@Devilsmommy god that sounds like such a tough time, for you and for him 😞
im trying with yoghurts and fruit purées as much as he will take. It’s just horrible isn’t it! 6 weeks must’ve felt like the longest time to be going through that. Will definitely switch from calpol and hope it gives him a bit more relief 🤞🏼

Each one takes about a month to penetrate the gum completely. My son also had 4 come through at the same time as his canines. And all 8 incisors came through at once to begin with, so he was pretty much immune to teething pain by that point

Oh goodness, six weeks!

My little guy is three week in with his four molars coming through and he's so out of sorts!

I had two weeks in mind but I see we have a lot more time to go. I better stock up on more nurofen 😔
