Child has been invited on an after school playdate, to be collected by other parent from school, back to their home for snack and change then off out on an activity. Child hasnt been without me on a playdate before. Child has attended summer schemes and groups without me but always has staff nearby. I dont know the parent that well, just to have a quick chat at drop off/pick up. Im in work so cannot go too

If the child is happy, id say Yr 2

It would probably depend on what my thoughts were of the parent, you usually have a good intuition if they're an attentive parent or not. For me, I'd probably be happy with this situation for a relatively sensible 6 year old, but I'd say you'll get quite varied answers.

I think it depends on a lot of things, the child, who the other parent is/how well you know the family etc

In the senario you describe then maybe year 2 would feel about right. Possibly year 1.

I think it depends on the child and how well you know the other parents. But mine certainly had playdates with friends he knew well/we knew parents well from age 3/4, but with school friends from age 5. I wouldn't just let him go home with some random though. It would be very dependent on how well I knew and trusted the parent.
