Hi,
Can anyone recommend some books for a 3 year old child with short attention and mild speech delay, please? He enjoys Dear Zoo, Oh dear, Where is spot? type of books. Anything too long or with too many words he just looses interest

The Tom Fletcher "there's a ..... in your book" series are good. Not too long and interactive too

There are lots of "Search & Find" books where the child has to find objects/people/vehicles/animals in the pictures (a bit like a younger version of the Where's Wally? books but with more variety!)

I have found that most children love these and there is a huge variety to suit different children's interests

Thanks everyone for your responses and recommendations. I have ordered some of them.

What are his interests? My nearly three year old is train mad and loves "the cat, the mouse and the runaway train".

Meg and mog
Maisy the mouse

Another vote for the Tom Fletcher series. I've just taken my 3 year old to his show at the theatre too which links with the books.

Try the Hervé Tullet books - Mix it Up, Press Here, Let's Play etc. they're super interactive and fun with no "story" as such but a great way to get kids interacting and spending time with books. My wee girl loves them!

Also he might be a bit old at 3 but the "That's not my..." books are great too

He likes vehicles and simple jokes (poopoo jokes)

He might like "poo in the zoo" then. Or the usborne "look inside cars" (or trains or planes) are brilliant. Loads and loads of flaps and you can talk about the pictures which was a big part of our speech and language sessions.

Thank you all!

Update! He loved all the books you guys recommended. We sit and read, chat about half an hour before bed and he brings me his books during the day. My 6 year old son also loved them. Thanks again!

There’s a great series for DC who like vehicles called Amazing machines (cool cars, terrific trains etc). Simple rhymes but lots of details of the sort vehicle-obsessed toddlers love- I can still remember the different attachments needed for a tractor depending on whether it’s harvesting hay or straw 😂
