Snacks!

Sticker books and snacks. New things for novelty.

Those paint with water things were good too

A plain drawing pad, packs of stickers from Poundland and some pencils in a pencil case.
iPad with loads of favourite programs downloaded and kids earphones.

I would get the sticker books with reusable stickers that peel off easily.

You can get triangular crayons so they don't roll.

Snacks, a couple of new toys, head phones and a tablet loaded with their favourite tv programmes, spare clothes for them and everyone in your party.
And if it’s terrible, don’t worry, you won’t be on that plane forever.

get one of those foldable shower toiletry bags as they usually have three separate sections. Fill one with colouring pencils/crayons and stickers and paper, another with Lego/small cars/toys and the last one with some snacks. Then it’s all in one place. In your own bag have wipes/tissues/drinks/- book that’s easy to put down and a change of clothes for the child in case they have an accident or spill something x

Complete spare outfit and a ziplock bag for any dirty items.

We got some really good sick bags off Amazon. The paper ones are crap and DS routinely gets travel sick on flights so O always have a few in my bag.

I did a few things, snacks, toys that are versatile and not been seen before. Mines not a drawer or sticker child so I got a dinosaur Russian doll thing which worked pretty well (open up and find another inside, then another then another - put the little ones together and play with them, put them all back inside etc, it actually killed about 40 mins), water painting book, a 'find/search book' where you find all the items in it.. variable depending on the child but basically anything fairly small that isn't noisy and is a bit of a novelty. Oh and wipes, spare clothes in the hand luggage that you can get to just in case, favourite toy/comforter

I got lots of little things, strips of stickers, mini crayons, fidget spinner type toy, little cardboard slate that you write on that can be cleared, pack of mini coloured post its, sheet of giggly eyes stickers, lollipop, small cuddly toy, mini book, cards. I wrapped them up in wrapping paper & put them in my carry on. She knew they were in there & could choose the next one. She knew that I would say when they'd get the next one over the duration of the flight. After you've drunk all your juice, after you've eaten, after you've had a sleep, in 1 more hour etc. I had the biggest one that I gave her before we got on wrapped up sparkly headphones for inflight tv watching. I told the stewardess too so they were in on it & could make 'a thing' of what she'd open & made the flight less scary & more inclusive. Fantastic behaviour from her & people around us joined in - letting them draw something on pads, show them her stickers etc. She's a teenager now & remembers it with good memories
