Please help I am feeling so stressed about potty training!

I put my daughter who is just 3 in pants yesterday ready for a weekend of potty training. I thought she would get the idea really quickly as she was showing all the signs of being ready, is already 3, is a younger sibling so sees her brother using the loo etc. However in a day and a half she has only done 2 wees on the potty and we have had several accidents...about 6 yesterday and 3 today. I don't mind cleaning up the wee incidents but am wondering at this age what is the best strategy...should I be persuading her to sit on the potty at regular times (half hrly) or just casually mentioning the potty every half hr or so but leaving her to feel when she needs to go and letting her ask to use the potty or go herself? Also she has not pooed since being in pants and I'm worrying she is getting constipated..I think she normally poos standing up so is not finding it comfortable to poo sitting on a potty.

I am feeling that I must be doing something wrong as all the other 3 year old girls we know are dry and I'm wondering why I'm having such difficulties with my daughter.

How many days do you think it should take for the accidents to diminish? any tips re: poos..

Any advice gratefully received.

i'd prob put her on half hourly then see how you go if she resists then don't push it but try and take note of when shes likely to and remind her. (up to hour after big drink) i think stress can make them go lots too - give it a couple days it'll settle down. could try potty chair-slightly taller or even on toilet?

katebee - I have started a thread too re. my 3yo dd, similar problems. I have ordered a toilet seat in case that works better than the potty and I might get a potty chair too as dd does look a bit uncomfortable on the little potty due to her legs being too long.

dd has seemed shy at times about doing poos in the potty (she is ok about it right now though). And it was at these times that she was interested in using the toilet instead. You may find that your dd would rather use the toilet?

Thanks so much for the tips. I do have one of those baby bjorn teddy bear loo seats so will encourage her to try that too... Have also ordered a pink potty in case that is more enticing than her brother's old white one. In the end we only had one wee in the potty yesterday, and many accidents and ended the day with tired stressed daughter and exhausted parents..As I am going out this morning I have decided we'll have to take a break and go back to nappies today, and will hopefully try potty training again tomorrow, & weds. At the moment we are having so many accidents it would be impossible to do continous time in pants as we would not be able to leave the house. Good luck with your daughter's potty/loo training Skyatnight..

My daughter is 2 years and 8 months and I have spent the last three days trying to get started with potty training. She is aware of the toilet and potty as she has an older brother, but does not seem bothered when she wets herself. She has not done anything on the potty for the past two days.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.
