Is it normal for a 6 year old to call her mum 'lazy'?

I had my six year old daughter to stay for a couple of days over half term, she said that her mum says she is going to sleep for 5 minutes on the sofa at her home and repeatedly referred to her as being 'lazy' while seeming cross at her. Is that normal for a 6 year old to say about their mother?

It isn't, no. She's hearing that from somewhere. If it isn't you, as her other parent, then who else lives with her or spends time around her who would be speaking like that about her mum?

Came her to say exact same as previous poster....

Also very keen to know where she's hearing that from.

Are you in a position to have a gentle conversation with her mum and flag up that she's been saying that and it sounded unfair and worrying to you? Is there another person living with them?

This. She is hearing this from someone. And it sounds as though that person is talking about her mum in quite an unpleasant way.

Yeah that sounds like she's heard it from someerhee. At 6 years old my daughter often repeats phrases that that she's heard. At that age they normally speak on what they see so yes the bit about mummy sleeping on the sofa, but not use the term lazy about it if that makes sense.

@mindutopia my 13 year old son lives with them also, I thought she might have heard it from somewhere and asked her if she had heard my son say that and she said hadn't.

Yes I though it was unusual, she was very blunt about it. Sadly there is a history of issues with her mum, and she is lazy/neglectful in her parenting to be honest but I have not used the word lazy, so I am guessing someone else has and she has over heard it.

Sounds like you've said it to someone else...and they've repeated it to her

@VeniceVentura nope I have never used the word in respect of their mum, I have called her neglectful but never near my son or daughter
