What to give babysitter?

This afternoon I have a friends teenage daughter watching my kids (2 and 4)so I can go to a funeral. It will be for 2 hours and kids will play or watch TV. 2 year old is toilet trained and independent. I have never used a babysitter before and the girl/her mum offered since she had finished her exams and just left school. I know the girl isn't expecting payment but I'm sure a token would be appreciated. I'm hoping £10 and a box of chocolates would be OK? Or should I give £20? I don't have a lot of extra cash but want to let the girl know that I appreciate the favour.

I'd give £15 and a 'help yourself to snacks/drinks'...

I agree.

Also, a nice box of chocolates isn't as cheap as you think, you could easily spend more than a fiver. So you might as well pay £15 and let her help herself to food / drinks. Smile

I pay my cleaner £15 an hour so I think £20 and no chocolates. surely she would sooner have the money?

I'd pay £20 and forget the chocolates

£20 definitely. No matter how independent you think the two year old is she's still two and a few hours with a 2 and 4 year old is definitely worth £10 per hour.

£20 no chocolates.

Ok, no chocolates. That makes sense. Will go buy some good snacks this morning, things she would probably like, and then just give money. Thank you!

Leave some snacks in the house for her and give her £20.
