What to do with 3 year old at sisters wedding

My sister is getting married abroad and my whole family will be there. The ceremony isn’t until late afternoon. The wedding is at a restaurant rather than the hotel that we are staying.
I have 4 children aged 10, 7, 6 and 3. I’m worried about how to occupy the 3 year old. He will behave for the ceremony and meal I’m sure. But what do I do with him after bedtime- he’s just not going to last til midnight and I want to or feel like we can leave my sisters wedding. He’s not been in a pram in over a year. I also don’t want to be a burden on the rest of the family (I also worry in a foreign country of him getting lost). Any ideas? Am I over thinking it?

Do you have a partner who is your child's parent? It's your sister's wedding, so I would expect you to be there with their other parent taking over the evening parenting duties as well as the walking around keeping them entertained during meals, etc.

If you are a lone parent and will be there on your own, you might ask a family member who is likely to want to leave early to take them back to the hotel and put them to bed. At family weddings, there has often been an auntie designated to take over with the children so bride/groom and wedding party could enjoy the wedding - this is usually someone who is quite pleased to leave early anyway!

Otherwise, if it's just you and no one else they could stay with, I think realistically, you just have to leave early. Mine have definitely made it til 9/10pm before at a wedding and then we made an early exit and put them and ourselves to bed.

I only had a couple of very young children at my wedding but they danced a bit and wore themselves out and then someone put some chairs together and they fell asleep on them!
