Hi,

I'm in the education sector in Ireland so will be off in a few weeks for the Summer. I have a (almost) 2.5 year old daughter. First child.
I've no idea what I'm going to do for the whole Summer with her.

We go to the playground (when it's not lashing rain, which is rare enough) play at home, go to soft play areas, go out to eat sometimes, try to meet up with other parents I know with their kids, and go to places like the woods and pet farms.

It sounds like loads but on a day-to-day basis it really isn't, or takes only an hour or 2 out of the day. I find the TV on too much.

There's no things like summer camps for her age, and she has a S&L delay also so is not yet speaking (we are getting help) which sometimes makes it harder to think of things to do.

Anyone else in similar situation and/or have any advice!!

TIA

Involve her in things you need to do - changing the sheets with a little one takes a lot longer, but it is also a great way to play with them.
Same as things like washing up - give them a bowl and some water and they can wash their own things - again, great play for little ones.
Same with gardening, washing the car, etc.
If you are going out somewhere, involve her in making the picnic - it expands the length of time they are engaged. then collect feathers or leaves or a bus ticket and get her to 'draw' what you've been up to and then, on the rainy days, make a scrap book / diary of the Summer. Maybe print out a couple of photos too.
Involve her in doing the shop - writing a list, fetching things, etc.
Cook together.
Go to different parks, not just your local one.
Out library always puts things on for little ones.
Get on your local Facebook groups - people advertise all sorts of events / open days / fetes / etc.

If you look at it being the whole summer you can easily think there’s nothing to do, but then things present themselves such as visits, things in the library or park or you’ll be particularly busy just on a day to day basis with housework, shopping etc.

Thank you, I will try some of these. She's a bit of a live wire so it can be difficult to get her to pay attention/not purposely tip a bowl of water over if we were washing up 😂 but there's some great suggestions, thank you 😊

Thanks 😊 I know the time will end up flying, I just feel guilty already because even on weekends for eg we will do things like the park, play etc but the majority is indoors really and I run out of ideas even then 😂 I seem to think I'm supposed to entertain her 24/7 with interesting & cool things (and then I see her getting hours of fun out of an empty box 😂) , she's my 1st and I don't have much experience around kids in general!

Finger painting, water play, baking, reading stories, colouring, magic painting, buy some simple sewing kits with holes ready punched.
