Wtf happened to my 9week old

Send help. Just as I thought I was starting to get grip of stuff, something posesses my little one in the afternoons/evenings. She is so fussy and Will. Not. Leave. My. Boobs. I mean she will be on, then unlatch but shortly after she unlatches she will scream murder and wants to latch back on. It's 6pm and she hasn't slept since 2pm, so I'm guessing she's overtired AF but no matter what I try, she won't go to sleep. Most of that time she has spent on my boobs apart from a walk as I tried to get her to sleep too. My partner had her on his own yesterday, and she got a bottle and still was exactly the same so I don't think (I hope) it's not a matter of hunger. I don't think she's gassy, her tummy is nice and soft and we do a lot of tummy massages, bicycle kicks etc. She lately started drooling so much too. I feel cheated, it was supposed start getting easier after 8 weeks?! She had her jabs on Tuesday so I wonder if this has anything to do with that? I just feel exhausted and I'm terrified to leave the house with her because I'm worried she'll be inconsolable unless on the boob!

She sounds like she is unsettled for whatever reason (teething, jags, etc). Have you tried a dummy?

Yep. She won't take one 🥲

we never used a dummy for any of our kids or grandkids

babies are babies and IMO, the baby may just be agitated or constipated - seek a second opinion as I feel its a bot of constipation and baby feels better on your chest

First of all, don't panic! Very young babies do have 'phases' - nothing has 'happened', they are just adjusting to life outside the womb and their brains are developing at incredible speed, so they will suddenly totally change sleeping patterns, feedings patterns etc but only a for few weeks at a time generally. Things will be hard for a bit, and then they will get easier again, and then maybe there will be another rough patch and so on. It's totally normal.

Hmm she did stop having dirty nappies everyday around the 8 week mark and now usually goes every 3days or so, but I heard that's normal for breastfed babies? I mentioned that to the gp on Tuesday and she didn't seem concerned. Today was her poop day too, and she had a massive poonami followed by a more reasonable nappy not long after.

Have you tried the hoover. Just stick it on.

Sigh. Gotta go back to repeating the "it's just a phase" mantra I guess.

Not the hoover but I got pink noise playing in the background at all times at the moment 😅

My little one used to be like this every evening like clockwork. Look up baby witching hours, it's pretty common. Could be a growth spurt too. I know it's hard but it will pass

I doubt that judging by our latest GC whois a few months old - his mum breastfed but also a bit of bottle feed and daily nappies chance

Lets see what others say and make a decision with a bit more insight IMO

Take care

Colic usually kicks in around 8 weeks in my experience

Completely normal in breastfed babies. My first would do a poo once every 7-10 days. My second does 2 a day. Babies do differ a lot, but it is normal for breastfed babies to not poo that often.

Growth spurt probably. Stick baby in a rocker near the washing machine whilst it's running.

WhenSunnyGetsBlue · 25/05/2024 19:09

Your boob is her safe place, and she is still getting used to the world. My daughter had a growth spurt at 10 weeks and grew out of her 0-3 month clothes. Maybe she is hangry? Or it could be the start of teething. Or she might just need you a bit more this week. As another poster said, babies go through phases. Just take it one day at a time. Sounds like you are doing great.

mrsed1987 · 25/05/2024 19:12

I feel you. My son is 7 weeks and probably for the last 3 weeks has been like this every night from about 8pm till 1am. It does seem to be getting shorter now though.

My only saving grace is I'm bottle feeding I can't imagine how frustrating it is for you breast feeding.

It will get better...that's what I keep telling myself anyway lol
