How do you find TotsBots nappies - reliable?

Hi all
I have just been offered a load of Tots Bots size2 nappies, i usually use Motherease + pockets.
What are your opinions on these?
My ds is 7 months old - at what point do they require boosting and what do you use - if anything?
I also just bought 3 cotton tots wraps - they look fab ( tie dye, snoopy and rainbow yum!) - i trhought i'd get some wraps that are more interesting than the motherease - anyone any experience of these wraps?
Any other 'interesting' wraps out there? I want a beautiful bum for summer! (Well i want ds to have a beautiful bum - there is no hope for me

tots bots are more absorbant than motherease generally (although I only use the cotton ones). I only boost them for nighttime (I use microfibre boosters, or prefold nappies/muslins to boost)

Yes, there are loads of wraps that are more attractive than motherease (e.g. Nature Babies) but IME none of them match their reliability.

I have some Tots Bamboozles size 2 and keep them for nights as they are so absorbent and reliable, but a bit bulkier than other nappies. I don't boost, and DS is 20 months. Their cut and adjustability definitely suit his shape (quite skinny these days) better than Motherease.

BigBadMouse · 04/04/2008 21:40

What sort of Tots Bots are they? I've used them all.

I want a beautiful bum for summer too (and the rest) .

Personally I haven't found a better wrap than the motherease but like you, and many others too, I'm sooooo bored of the patterns!

I think it is just the normal (original?) ones.
Are all the differnt types of Tots Bots as good as each other?

Great to hear taht they are being used overnight, i might try them for overnight aswell then as there is no way that a motehrease will last ds overnight. Anyone any experience of the original overnight?

We started out on size 2 cotton Tots Bots, I don't think you can go far wrong with them, they are very absorbent. We started out just using cloth nappies at night, and this was the nappy we chose. Our dd was about 15mths at the time and we did need to boost for nights (she was a very heavy wetter then). I found them more absorbent than MEOs.

Tots Bots now also make Fluffles (microfibre, quite absorbent but discontinued, you should still be able to get them but not for much longer); Bamboozles - these are made from bamboo fibre, aplix or popper fastening, much slimmer than cotton and similar absorbency (though I think the cotton still beats it personally); and coming soon is the Flexitot (mainly man made fibres with bamboo on the inside). They also do organic cotton nappies which are lovely.

I've just heard that we may be getting something more funky from Mother-ease this summer, so watch this space!

oh good - just in time for Amos moving up a size - i had better start flexing the credit cards!

I have an 8mo in size 2 cotton tots bots and a 2.8yo in size 3 cotton tots - they both wear them overnight with a microfibre booster. They are my favourite nappy for reliability and containment.

I use Motherease onesize nappies in my change bag as they fit both boys, and DS1 wears them at nursery, as they seem more comfortable using this type of nappy for some reason.

Piffle · 05/04/2008 20:30

I dig their bamboozles and really rate them. Find the cotton ones bulkier.

pinkyminky · 05/04/2008 20:42

Ooh had to join in I love totsbots. I use cotton ones with a nappy nippa. Used to boost them for my boy with totsbots boosters but DD has never needed. I use motherease rikki (poppers) wraps for preference. I've got a number of other types of nappy but these are my favourite.

pinkyminky · 05/04/2008 20:48

Ploarn o pyret do some fab over nappy nickers that are not girly at all- perhaps you could try those instead of different wraps? I do have some minky ones with fire engines on but fleece ones are only really ok if baby is not going in buggy or car seat as the sitting strapped in tends to cause wicking, IME.

Washersaurus · 05/04/2008 20:49

Rikki wraps are velcro, pinky. The popper ones are Airflow (used to be 'air rika' I think)

I prefer nippa ones too, much more adjustable.

I wish I could afford/justify to DH trying all the other tots bots varieties

pinkyminky · 05/04/2008 20:49

Sorry thats Polarn O Pyret

Octothechildherder · 07/04/2008 08:15

TOts nappies are really reliable - their wraps have great patterns but are less reliable! Would stick to the motherease or onelife covers.

One day someone will come up with a way of printing bespoke rikkis!

pinkyminky · 07/04/2008 18:42

MY mistake! Air rika- I think that's where I've got confused. I do have some with velcro but it can rub baby's tummy if it touches, and tends to ruin the top hem of the wrap over time, I find. I have one of the newer totsbots pul wraps with leg gussets and it is quite good- it's softer than the bummis ones and doesn't wick round the legs if dd does a jumbo wee.

fairylights · 07/04/2008 18:50

i use tots bots bamboozles(on size 2 now) and think they are great - have certainly had the best experience of "real" nappies out of all my friends who have tried other makes.

tummytickler · 07/04/2008 20:17

Hi everyone - thanks for your replies - i went ahead and bought them and they have been fab - used with ME wraps (although i have ordered some fab other wraps to try - DanHappy?).
They have been great - no leaks although they are bulky compared to pockets and ME, but ds doesnt seem to mind! He even went 12 hours over night in one!
I might try soem of the slimmer ones too, even though i really dont need anymore (in fact i think this requires a new thread!)

nappyaddict · 19/04/2008 03:07

they don't last ds through night hence my reason for being up at this hour!!

nannyL · 19/04/2008 08:53

have you washed them enough times first? iwe were they brand new?

Alishanty · 19/04/2008 11:08

We use tots bots. Use original for night and we also have some bamboozles and fluffles. I think they are great, really absorbent and the size 2 still have plenty of room left in them and ds is 20 mths. Sometimes I boost at night with a flannel. I don't like the tots bots wraps though, I find they leak, Motherease all the way in that department I'm afraid.

mummyhill · 19/04/2008 11:11

I lurve tots bots but use minky huggles at night as ds is a very heavy wetter.
