Nap trapped by sofa naps

Hi all
my LOnwill only nap on the sofa - we have transitioned from sling naps and I’ve tried everything to get LO down in own crib but sofa is the only place.
I wedge him in with some pillows and then sit with him for the entire duration of the nap …….. so I am basically disadvantaged now as I can’t do anything like I could with the sling but he is too heavy for me now in the sling and will sleep on sofa for 1hr 30 whereas in the sling probably only 20 mins.

does anyone leave their LO’s on the sofa to nap and just pop to the loo or kitchen? Or am I just better off trying as hard as I can to transition to crib nap now?

You need to break that habit as it’s dangerous as soon as the baby can roll.

just never ever do sofa naps. The baby will sleep elsewhere eventually

I know that’s my fear and why I’ve been trapped for the last week for every single nap lol!

I will definitely try the crib again later and try to mimick the sofa routine as best I can.

god this nap lark is hard work

Please don’t wedge your baby in the cot with pillows! Just do very good sleep hygiene and after maybe 2 days he’ll get it. And you’ll be freeeeee

Stick him in his pram and go for a walk. Or put him down to sleep on the floor - at least he won’t fall off.

I’d try the floor instead. A travel cot mattress/folded up towel on the floor, lie with him, feed him etc however you get him to sleep then roll away. How old is he?

Can you transition to a sofa cushion on the floor? And then to a blanket/mat?

Or just endless walks with the pram which is what I did. I could never get him in the house asleep but I got my steps in and could go to the shops.

@LapinR0se Omg I appreciate how that sounded in my OP. I honestly do not wedge him in the whole time, the only way he falls asleep comfortably is by being all cosy and sort of if I mimic him being held as he likes to be held tightly so I wedge the pillows around him and when he nods off I take them away.

@LittleBearPad he won’t sleep in the pram :( honestly it’s a nightmare
