Cot smells of smoke

So I bought a second hand travel cot as I need it fir tomorrow night. I've just got it home and unfolded it to give it a clean and upon unfolding I can detect a smell of smoke.

Is there any way to clean this to remove the smoke? It's too late for me to get another travel cot now, my only other option is to co sleep which i've always said i'd never do as it makes me nervous (no judgement for those that do, i'm just scared of it)

Not a fan of cosleeping here either but it's safer to cosleep with you than sleep in a cot with that has been in a smokers house if the baby is under 12 months, and especially if they're under 6 months. Baffling how people can smoke inside a house with a child living there really.

I'd be wiping it down with a properly diluted disinfectant then leaving it outside in the fresh air for the day. Then another thorough wipe down with clean water tomorrow morning and another fresh air session.

Wipe over with vinegar and bicarb, leave outside and wipe again. It should be fine if it's nylon or whatever plastic like material it is.

Or sprinkle bicarb leave in the sun and them hoover it up.

Dilute dettol laundry additive ( heavily Dilute) wipe over and leave outside

* please do not use the mattress that came with it. Safer sleep guidelines say you need a new one for baby

Argos do same day delivery on some items if that helps!

I wouldn’t use it if it smells of smoke. Depending on where your going and how old baby is could the alternative be to order one on Amazon and have it delivered to your destination?

I don't understand why you would expose your baby to it, it's just not right ☹️

I completely agree, and both me and my other half were smokers before pregnancy. He's switched to vaping and I absolutely hate the smell of cigs now, it sticks to everything. Even as smokers we never ever smoked inside, it's vile and so hard to get the smell out. You don't realise how much your clothes smell either until you stop.

Thanks for the suggestions folks

I tried cleaning and airing it out and it is better but i'm just not comfortable using it.

Have found there's an argos en route with one in stock so going to click and collect that.

Thought i'd try and save a bit of money and ended up spending more but we live and learn I guess 🤷‍♀️
