Hi All,

We have a ground floor with kitchen / living room, 2nd floor has 2 double bedrooms and main bathroom, top floor has double bedroom and en suite.

At the moment my 2.5yr old is on the 2nd floor in one of the double rooms, but we live in a newbuild and the walls are like PAPER. My husband wakes at 5am for work and sometimes she wakes regardless of how quiet he is. I was considering moving her to the top floor but worry about if this is a safe? We have stair gates in place etc.

What would you do???

Same floor as you until age 6 I would think.

Have you considered a noise machine?

My DD uses one every night which means very little disturbs her, also in a new build. Seems as easier solution then moving rooms!

Child on the second floor, your bedroom on the top floor. Easier to retrieve child in the event of a fire and you have to flee the building

We have a town house...the kids have always been on the top floor. We had door gates on their bedroom doors when they were little so they couldn't wander out and go down the stairs.

Definitely same floor as you. My nearly four year old now comes into our room when she wakes in the morning, and she no longer needs a baby monitor as she either comes in if she wakes int he night or she shouts for us. It wouldn’t work if she were on a different floor to us.

We have this set up. We get the ensuite on the top floor, kids on the middle floor.
