Childminder looking after Rottweiler!?

StillTrying10000 · 14/05/2024 22:03

My childminder has said she will be looking after her son’s Rottweiler dog whilst caring for my daughter. She says the dog will never come into contact with my 16 month LO and will be locked away. However I’m concerned that it only takes a second for something awful to happen. The dog is so large and my baby so small I’m worried they’d only need to walk past her and knock her over to cause an injury. Let alone the horror stories of what could happen.
Am I being unreasonable to be worried and I should trust she’ll keep my LO safe or is it just not worth the risk? Thanks xx

I'd say YANBU.

Absolutely not. I was bitten by my neighbours Doberman. I just couldn't cope with my DD being in that situation x

YANBU.

Wouldn’t take the risk !

No way would I leave my child with her. Is looking after the dog a temporary arrangement, or ongoing?

napody · 14/05/2024 22:18

I wouldnt think, if she's done her risk assessment and registration as a dog free house, she would be allowed to do this?

No I wouldn't- wouldn't be able to relax at all while she was there!

I love rotties, I think they are gorgeous dogs. But I wouldn't be happy with this either. You have no idea of the temperament of this dog.

napody · 14/05/2024 22:19

To be honest, even if I said I wasn't happy with it and she told me she had cancelled the arrangement, I still wouldn't be able to relax. I'd be worried that she was still looking after the dog for part of the day, and my child was too young to tell me. I sound quite anxious and paranoid now- I'm actually quite relaxed about most aspects of child rearing 😂

Not in a million years would I allow that.
