My Daughter will be 7 in July.

She has absolutely everything (in terms of toys/dolls etc).

Can you give me ideas based on what you've bought your own 7 year olds!

Thank you!

Books. Clothes. A special outing.

We bought our granddaughter a subscription for a Toucan box, she loved her monthly box arriving.
There’s a big choice of age appropriate craft/cookery boxes.

Book subscription service like this - https://www.littlerobineducation.com/pages/8-12-book-club

Craft kits? More temporary than toys but at least she won’t have them - there’s always some good ones on this site (in fact I often get gifts from here using the age filter)

Tickets to a sports event/ theatre show? Trip to a pottery cafe?
A bunch of helium balloons?
I am guessing she has a camera/ video camera? If not the vtech ones are good.

Yoto player is another thing my DD adores. And Botley the cosing robot has been a good educational gift.

My daughter is the same age. I've got her a trip to London Zoo plus feeding the meerkats as a main "gift". Other suggestions:

  • mini microscope - I got her one of these at Christmas and she has had hours of entertainment from it, looking at leaves, seeds, petals, carpet fibres, etc.
  • fossil excavation kit - I got one for her friend and it went down very well
  • snap circuit kit - we have had lots of fun with this
  • potion making kit e.g. https://www.youthandwild.co.uk/products/superhero-potion-kit

This book is halfway between a game and a book and was a big hit at Christmas.

DD1 got the Botley robot a PP recommended at that age. She's nearly 10yo now, and it is still used. She also would have got books, pens, Harry Potter Lego and Playmobil.

DD2 was 7 last summer and got the Lego Sanctum Sanctorum as her main gift (she is a bit of a Lego whizz). She also had books, stationery (sparkly gel pens, highlighters etc), some equipment for her sport, and Playmobil.

Other things DCs have had from others/for Xmas around that age: science kits, Gravitrax, Sylvanian Families and Fimo.
TBH if she already has 'everything', I would scale right back on wrapped gifts and give an experience instead

I just got DD a gymnastics bar as her 7th birthday present. (Not one of the foldaway standfree ones as they'd grow out of it too quickly - it's one that's cemented into the garden).

Other ideas:

Lego treehouse

Scooter/bike if an upgrade is needed

Netball hoop or badminton set or similar

CD player/radio

NuffSaidSam · 14/05/2024 20:50

Things that she'll use up:

Colouring pens
Gel pens/special pens
Paper
Stickers
Fimo Clay
Glue/sellotape/blu tack/masking tape
Beads and thread
Craft bits and bobs
Some wood and a tool kit
Magazine subscription
Bubble bath/bath bombs
New clothes/shoes

Experiences:

Zoo keeper/Farm worker for a day
Water sports
Horse riding
Trampolining
Go-karts

Books
