How many stair gates do you use? ie. bathroom, kitchen etc.

Just flicking through mothercare magazine (which is obviously going to say you need a million stairgates) and it shows them on most doorways. I have one in the bathroom and kitchen but was going to move them when we get a better door put on the bathroom (with a knob rather than handle) and double doors put in our kitchen arch - do you have bathroom/kitchen gates up?

4- but we have a house with lots of stairs. top and bottom of one flight, bottom of another (ds never goes into the attic room so do without one at the top of this flight), plus stairgate across playroom door to keep puppy and ds apart when one threatens to chew the other one's toys too much.
but my sister never bothered and her children a)still alive b)very good at going up and down stairs from early age.

We have one between the lounge and kitchen and one at the bottom of the stairs (in the lounge). They are for my peace of mind really especially as I'm pregnant and I occasionally drift off a bit when I'm in the lounge with DD and we have dangerous stuff accessible in the kitchen. We are teaching her to climb the stairs though, I don't much fancy trying to carry her in a couple of months time.
