Best toys to take on holiday for a 2 year old?

Any recommendations on small toys to take on holiday (beach based but apartment rather than resort so won’t have anything where we are staying) for an almost 2 year old? We don’t have much space left in our luggage so we can’t take much. She likes books, puzzles, tonies box, megablocks, a wooden bus, soft toys etc but all of these either don’t occupy her for long or are too big.

If you have been away with a child this age how many books did you take? Do I just take a few and read the same ones every night? Probably overthinking this I know!

Take a cheap plastic tea set. If there is a paddling pool or you are playing at the beach this will keep her going for ages.

Felt books. I bought a fantastic felt travel book from Amazon which had different things to fiddle with on each page.

One of those super lightweight tablet things he can draw on. Press a buttons and it erases.

Those little games/puzzles in a tiny square box. There's a sandcastle one, a shells one. Can't remember the name of the brand but there's loads of different ones.

Toy cars also good as they can drive them all over whatever environment they are in (sun loungers etc)

Bucket and spade (buy it there) are the other thing that keeps them going for a long time

Curious Columbus Montessori felt books.
Bought the plane one and it was worth every penny. Only just got rid of it and my DD is nearly 5!

Oh and whatever you get, wrap them up for the plane and let them open it on the plane.

Took our DD to a remote Greek island when she was 2 and it took three flights to get there. On each flight she opened a different 'present'! Was a godsend !

Crayola mess free colouring was a hit for my 2 year old; I think we took 4 books that were completely new ones.

Felt busy board, little animals / people / a toy car in a little bag, colouring stuff and crayons / stickers in another bag. Just take 1 or 2 books and do same stories at nighttime or talk about the adventures you've had on hols.

UK holiday where we took the car so we had room for more, but highly recommend any of these if you have the space (perhaps more suited to a car mad little boy though):

-Speed track roll up race track and small selection of matchbox cars
-Smartmax power vehicles set (or any of the smartmax building sets)
-Yoto mini
-LCD drawing tablet from Amazon
-Mini diggers and dump trucks for the beach
-Sticker books
-A few new books she's never seen before

PP suggestion of cheap tea set to play with on the beach is great. I'm sure you could pick up some cheap sand toys when you're over there.

These have also been a big hit on holidays (there are loads of variations of the same toy on Amazon)

Bubbles, sprinkle cups- can use in paddling pool or even just a large bowl of water (along with some kitchen utensils from the apartment), blow up ball, bucket and spades (buy there), toy cars, crayons, stickers, duplo rather than megabocks as smaller, a doll or Teddy (can use things from the kitchen to role play feeding etc).

As you can probably tell I utilise a lot of things that will already be in the apartment too (saucepans and wooden spoon drums). Also most apartments I have stayed in have some toys or at least beach/water toys left there for you to use too

Also with books I brought a few new small paperback books from the works and took about 10 of them (all new). But every place I've stay there have been a few books left from the owners/previous guests too
