Sleepovers

My friend works in a school & has been told that her son cannot have sleepovers because of this. The child that stayed over does not attend the same school. Is this correct?

Told by who?

Sounds like she just doesn’t want her child to go to sleepovers and is making up excuses so that he can’t.

I would think this isn't correct. My dd is friends with a teacher's child and has had loads of sleepovers at her house. What a sad existence for a teacher's child if the system was banning them from sleepovers.

What I suspect is happening here is that the parent simply doesn't want to do sleepovers (I make up all sorts of excuses why I can't because I simply cannot be asked!) or the safeguarding training they have received has made the teacher feel a bit jumpy and they are risk averse and just don't want to take the chances of anything happening that could be misconstrued. Maybe they have received a warning or had something flagged in the past about inappropriate boundaries? And they just don't want to take any risks with anyone's child because of the impact it could have on their career.
