Hi, my DS had a really bad night last night he was very warm and didn’t settle until 3, me holding him and comforting him made him even more warm. But I’ve noticed today he’s got this rash all over his front and back torso, small little red spots. He’s completely fine in himself , I rung the drs to be safe but they said as he’s well in himself and passes the glass test that it’s probably due to the heat. Just annoyed they wouldn’t let me even send a pic over.

to note he has really sensitive skin since birth and he’s lots of eczema bouts and he did have skin screen on all day yesterday so hoping it is that or just the heat.

thank you

Could it be the sunscreen do you think? My DD is terribly allergic to a lot of brands.

Have you tried him with a dose of antihistamine?

It’s not the clearest photo but it looks like heat rash.

There are some good creams for eczema. I find sun sense to be good.

Hey strangely my nearly 2 year old recently had similar. Fever, followed by spots on chest and back. I rang 111 in the end, but they said likely to be a non specific viral rash. It went in a couple of days. 111 said to me - if it starts to bother them, looks bruised, gets a lot worse or a really high fever comes back, then call then.back, but otherwise could be managed at home. Obviously though if you're concerned, call them

Oh,just on the picture I was going to ask if he has eczema. My very eczema-y child comes out like this all the time.

Cdoc · 10/05/2024 21:09

My DS comes out in a similar rash when he has a bad bout of tonsillitis (recurrent sufferer). We’ve seen a few doctors and nurses about it and they’ve always said it’s part of the body’s response to the virus and it does clear up on its own

@CadyEastman didn’t even think about the sun cream but could well be! I usually give him sensitive skin sunscreen but his eczema has been fine for months and months I didn’t even think. Good shout thank you.

@Therageisreal sorry he’s in a running away phase 😅 just ordered some off amazon thank you

@Depressedbarbie thank you, fortunately for now he’s completely fine in himself but I will deffo keep a close eye on him

@Corksoles yes he has had really bad eczema in the past but has been fine for the last few months but the last few days his old patches of eczema are making a show then this today

@Cdoc thank you he seems fine in himself but I will keep an eye

@Charlotteap my little one who is also prone to eczema sometimes gets viral rashes like that and they go away in a few days.

User284732 · 10/05/2024 21:21

One of mine always got a rash like that from Nivea sun screen.

Charlotteap · 10/05/2024 21:23

@Overlyanxious thank you, hopefully his does too 🤞

@User284732 it was actually Nivea we used! Bought some for sensitive skin that someone recommended for future!

his eczema has been fine since last September then the first sign of sun the last week and it’s reappearing 😫

my 2 year old DD had similar rash but worse on her tummy and chest. The only things hepled was Aveeno baby daily care cream. It cleared up in 2-3 days. I applied 2 times a day. She has those nasty rashes for a month but I was away in another country and tried many different creams there and when I got back to UK, Using Aveeno, It cleared up quickly.

My DS got a rash last Saturday that looked like lots of red spots, a bit like measles but only on his chest and stomach. Slightly raised. They disappeared three days later. It was either a rash due to it being 10 days after mmr vaccinations or it was a heat rash. Ds had a thick jumper on for a walk in the carrier in coolish weather but he did feel warm after it. So likely one of the two above for us.

111 had told us to wait to see the gp. By the time the gp opened the rash had gone.

Thank you both for the response , it was just on his torso back and front but seems to have a little on his back today too. He has had a couple days , in and out the paddling pool and lots of sunscreen. So I am presuming it is going to be that or due to the heat but will call the dr if still there Monday. He id still completely fine in himself

The back of the torso IS his back!
It looks like prickly heat.
Honestly it is no wonder people can't get a GP appointment when I read some of the things people call for!

Charlotteap · 12/05/2024 10:35

@ageratum1 have I said anywhere about trying to get an appointment to see a dr? No? My previous post mentioned asking to send a picture , which is what usually happens at my gp
