Is a pushchair too cumbersome on holidays?

Hi, I know alot of people ask whether or not to take pushchair or stroller on holidays but usually its about whether or not they need it for older kids to have a rest or which is best when going through airport. We are taking car by ferry to France so I can take either pushcair or stroller in boot.

What I would like to know is, has anyone taken their pushchair on holidays and was it a bit cumbersome and awkward or was it better than stroller. The town I am going to in France has some cobbled streets and a couple of narrow footpaths, steps etc. Pushchair I have is a Cybex Gazelle and I really only use it occasionally, usually when out shopping. Would a smaller stroller be better/easier for holidays?

I am undecided between buying a stroller or just bringing the pushchair I already have.

Would be grateful for any opinions to help me make up my mind. Thanks

How old is baby or toddler.

Also what is the difference between a pushchair and stroller?

A lightweight buggy is handy but only if your dc will be happy sleeping in it.

Light weight small wheels plus cobbles aren't a great combination!

I wouldn't be buying anything new, but if you have both, take which one you (and you child!) prefer.

Large pushchairs are always going to be a bit bulky and cumbersome compared to a stroller. Our main buggy is a lightweight stroller and we've managed fine on all kinds of surfaces including cobbles. For steps and narrow footpaths it is much better than wide pushchairs which take up the whole path, and it's light enough for me to carry up steps without any help.

Small stroller definitely. So you can carry it up stairs, fit on narrow footpaths and won’t have an issue getting it into restaurants if they’re tight on space- France IME tends to be a bit hit and miss for high chairs.

Thanks everyone. Think I might use my pushchair again a couple of times this week to remind myself of what it's like and how the child likes it. Its been a while since I used it. If I find it bulky I will go and buy a stroller.
I think stroller would probably be easier.

I always just used a sling, so much easier and folds up small when not in use.
