CMPA

Silly question I’m sure, but how do you know if your baby has CMPA? Most symptoms cross over with other things so it’s really tricky to know.

I’ve stopped dairy for three weeks so far due to my child having a rash but I’m also using an emollient for eczema. I have no idea if the slight improvement in the rash is due to the no dairy or the emollient 🤷‍♀️

I was told to try one thing at a time so that I knew what was helping alleviate symptoms. More time consuming but makes sense.

No-one's actually officially told me to stop dairy. I just did it off my own back but it's put me in a tricky position now.

Reintroduce dairy now without changing anything else, see if you notice any new symptoms.

You remove dairy and soya if there isn't a clear change and then you do a test with reintroducing the dairy to see if the symptoms return or get worse. It can take 4-6 weeks of being dairy free for all symptoms to improve. If you haven't also removed soya I would do that too as half of babies are allergic to both dairy and soya as the proteins are very similar

Egg is also a common allergen that can cause eczema. It might be worth keeping a food and symptom diary.
