Is it too late to introduce bottles?

My ds is 6 months old and is ebf. In the beginning we used to give him expressed breast milk in a bottle but for convenience I've pretty much just breastfed him since, We then tried him on another bottle of expressed milk (mam bottle) at 4 months and he pretty much refused. Now I would like to start giving him the odd bottle of formula just so I can have a break and dh can help with feeds but I'm worried he's just going to refuse. Has anyone got any tips of how I can start to introduce a bottle? Someone said the lanisoh teets are quite good? Any suggestions welcome.

I EBF my kids. DC1 took a bottle after trying several teats and formulas. In the end the NUK mam teats won (most like a nipple apparently).

Tried for months with DC2, she never took a bottle. Weaned herself off the breast at 11 month and drunk cows milk and formula from a cup. i also made porridge with formula.

so you never know, you have a try a bit and sometimes babies are more likely to take a bottle from dad. My first only wanted to be bottle fed by me for ages.

its never too late to introduce a bottle. You just need to persist. In terms of bottles, I can’t comment, I personally like the Dr Browns ones, the teet size could be the difference, try the 3+ months one and if that doesn’t work yet the 6+ months.
start with a feed where they are hungry, such as the morning time and keep trying for x period of time before trying breast.
I think being consistent and not giving up helps. Having the formula/breast milk warmed, not cold can help too.

If you need to give a bottle for what ever reason, you decide not baby, just try and keep trying. Baby’s are very adaptable and learn fast. Good luck.

Not too late. I introduced at 7 months using lanisoh.

My tip - get your husband/mum/partner to try with bottles. Less likely to take it off of
you at first, as you have the boobies.

We introduced a bottle at a few weeks but she developed bottle aversions on and off so it was hard to get consistency.

I also found I had high lipase and expressed milk had to be very fresh. I never expressed enough to worth investigating it any further. One thing I found helpful on one occasion to get her to take the bottle was to express a small amount 1/2-1 Oz and offer it after each day time breastfeed over a couple of days she went from not wanting to bottle anywhere near her to taking it again.

We eventually did get her to take formula in a bottle but I had to stop breastfeeding cold turkey after a bad bottle aversion caused by a reaction to a formula she was allergic to.

Can’t you just cup feed it? I really wouldn’t want the faff of bottles.

At 6 months old? I think a simple tommee tippee free flow sippy cup is better. Don't introduce a bottle.

Hi 👋 don’t have any advice unfortunately but in the same boat, 4month old ebf since birth and started teething, shes not tried chomping my boob yet thankfully but ive seen what a teething baby can do to bottle teets when teeth cut 😥 my nipples would die haha so tried introducing a bottle (MAM) and all she does is chomp on the teet and push it out her mouth, tried with both expressed milk and formula she just ends up getting really upset until we finally give in and give her boobie, don’t really want to spend loads of money trying to find a different bottle so trying to persevere with MAM xx

My son started at nursery at 5 months after being exclusively breastfed. He took bottles of expressed milk with him and after 3 days of barely drinking whilst there he started taking them absolutely fine.

It not too late but a bit pointless. A bottle is a stepping stone to a cup, which your baby is now old enough to use. I'd put formula straight in a cup.
