CONFUSED! - Corrective Age

My baby henry was premature ( he was born at 34 weeks gestation) and they always say ‘corrective’ age for newborn babies, for example- he will smile 6-12 weeks from ‘corrective age’, ok.. so what’s his ‘corrective’ age? - is it ‘6-12 weeks from DUE date’? If so, why aren’t all babies born before 40 weeks following a ‘corrective’ time line.

Babies that are born at 37 weeks, only 3 weeks after Henry, but isn’t told to follow a ‘corrective’ time line for things like calpol?

So…. When is corrective? Is it corrective from when Henry would’ve been 37 weeks ( full term ) or due date - but then why aren’t all babies born before 40 weeks told to correct?

You technically correct to 40 weeks. But I would say in reality with your baby he is 4 weeks younger than his 'actual' age. My girls were born at 33 weeks and for the first 6-9 months they hit mile stones somewhere between uncorrected and corrected age.

In terms of calpol my GP had to calculate the dose to give before they were 2 months corrected. They did this based on weight rather than age. But they were really low weights too.

As @Donimo says. You correct to 40 weeks. So only when he 6 weeks he'll be Considered term. For both my prems doctors calculated capol dosage based on their body weight at first. It was only once they were about 3 months they were able to have the standard newborn dose iirc.
