Can you have it all?

Is it possible for both parents to work full time (9 to 5) with a mixture of WFH and office and raise 3 good, well rounded kids? Or is it just chaos?

I have a boy and girl, don't really want to tip the balance or unsettle our happy life but I feel like I will regret not having a third. Or will I regret not giving my current two my undivided attention which is manageable while we work.

I can drop a day max but other than that we both will have to contour working after maternity leave.

Or is it your marriage that takes a back seat?

Yes but you need money.

Or family support.

Two careers plus three kids plus housework equals more than two adults.

We are comfortable financially but we don't have family support....

I just can’t see why you’d take the risk tbh

It sounds like you have a good balance now and can manage everything and be happy

Yes it might be possible to do it all with a third too but equally there’s a strong risk it could be the breaking point. Especially if the third has any kind of health or developmental issues or even if they are just a bad sleeper, very clingy or tantrummy etc.

Is a third child really important enough to risk what you have now? I’d say no but then I’ve never really seen the benefit of 3 kids so possibly the wrong person to ask…

We make it work OP and we have limited family support ( both sets of GPs are great but one set lives two hours away and the other a flight away). I work two half days and 3 full days (so 4 days altogether) and DH works full time. 2 kids in school and 1 in nursery. After school/ clubs 3 days a week. It’s busy but totally manageable and worth it for us. Marriage took a back seat first year when we were exhausted but all ok now that everyone’s sleeping! No one can tell you what to do but it is do able, if you have a practical attitude and don’t mind a little chaos!
