Requesting to cancel a universal credit claim

Hiya
I have recently moved in with my parents, so no longer get housing costs and have updated my claim since so I get £0 rent. I am so lucky and my parents are amazing with helping out with anything my child needs. I do not need to pay them rent or contribute to bills which I am so grateful for.
I would like to cancel my child and single parent element as my wages cover everything she needs as well as putting some away into savings. I don’t want to accept it just because it’s there and I know I’ll feel a lot better in myself without claiming these benefits anymore. Some people say you cannot cancel a claim for this reason but others say you can? So just looking for the correct answer only before I send off a request to cancel the claim!

Surely there’s just a helpline you call?
regardless don’t just cancel through pride….claim what you’re entitled too

It’s 100% not being cancelled due to pride, it’s due to the fact I personally don’t feel a reason to continue to claim it if I know I can manage just fine without

Ok, but a lot of people are entitled to child benefit regardless of their housing circumstances . Put it in a savings account for your child if you don’t need it

Thankyou for your input but i am purely looking for people who have either closed their claim or had it refused. I have made my decision, my child will never go without and I want to have my own savings for her through my own money and be proud of it knowing I did it for her

This is money distributed through the tax system that you and your child are entitled too.
how can a closure of claim possibly be refused?
you can have your own savings and you can be proud of them, that doesn’t mean you cannot also access what’s available to you

Will you also not be claiming state pension? This is no different, the vast majority of parents receive some amount of financial support, be it through UC, child benefit or childcare being paid.
