My little baby girl is on aptamil pepti 1 for suspect reflux as her nappies were runny and she has silent reflux she seem okay for the first days but now she is screaming crying with her reflux it’s like the acid is hurting her throat. We were giving gaviscon but that doesn’t seem to work anymore. Has anyone experienced anything similar

Isn’t that milk for CMPA babies? The milk is thinner than normal milk to generally makes reflux worse .

my son (now 20mo) was put on alfamino due to milk allergy and I definitely noticed reflux got a bit worse due to how thin it was but got better after some time.

@Gingerthecat oh sorry I was meant to say cmpa so sleep deprived 😂

I have her on carobel with this milk to try thicken it up. But the last few days she spitting up and can see she’s so uncomfortable it’s really like it’s hurting her throat as she sounds very hoarse too.

@Eleary ahhh ok I did wonder!

I know the feeling . although my sons silent reflux wasn’t horrendous but definitely caused him some discomfort, I never medicated him for it .
I always stuck with MAM bottles size 0 teat ( the smallest ) so the milk comes out really slow and smaller feeds - I did also notice that a lot of his reflux came form trapped wind if I got lots of wind out of him he was better!

do you follow the CMPA page on Facebook?
or the baby reflux lady on instagram?
some good advice on there.

You might need omperazole as well as thickener for the reflux and that formula still contains dairy so they might be still reacting to that if they are sensitive. Pepti has the milk protein partially broken down which is ok for some but not others.
You might need a different hydrolysed formula. There are two proteins in cows milk - caesin and whey. You can be allergic to either or both. Some formulas break down caesin and others whey. The other option is an amino acid formula which has never seen dairy is made up of the components of dairy but using individual building blocks - the amino acids. The most commonly used amino acid formulas are neocate and alfamino
