Onelife nappy feels very wet!

I know a nappy is supposed to get wet! I got a new one recently and it's been washed a few times. But each time it feels really soaking when I change it. It doesn't leak, just feels saturated. DD's skin is OK with the fleece liner.

Do they take a while to reach max absorbency?

I use One-Life and have to use the booster for my son. They are always wet through though, however they have never leaked on me yet!

They are not the highest absorbant nappy, but I love the fact they are slimline!

If it is really saturated when you change it I would say it is up to it's full absorbancy. As long as her skin is dry that shouldn't cause any troubles for her but it might be a PITA for you having to change so often.

I have to say, I'm really not a fan of Onelife and MEOS and found they were saturated on my DD within 2 hours. You could try boosting with a supermarket value microfibre dishcloth - this will add a fair bit if absorbancy for very little increase in thickness, they dry very quickly too and you can pick them up in packs of 3 for under a £1 at Tesco / Adsa etc (If I type that on here one more time I swear I will scream but they really are very useful things to have if you are cloth nappying).

By max absorbency I mean some nappies need to be used/washed lots before they perform to their best. KWIM?

Most of my other nappies are terry.

Yep but in general they tend to be sort of dryish even when they need changing if they haven't been prewashed enough (hard to describe - sorry). They will also be far more likely to leak if not prewashed enough -part of the reason for the prewashing process is to remove the waterproof coating you get on new fabrics (such as you get on new towels) and that can take a few washes, if that hasn't come off then the liquid just runs straight off the fabric . If they feel heavy and saturated and are not leaking then they are very likely to be up to full absorbancy.

Are they bamboo or cotton terry? IME The cotton ones tend to only need a couple of prewashes, the bamboo maybe need 5-6 before they start to work well. Of course the more you wash them after the prewashes, the more absorbant they get (albeit in much smaller increments) but I think after about 12-15 washes (with cotton) you are as good as it is going to get.

I use onelife (and many others!), and I would say they are mediumish absorbency. My DD can go 3 hrs before it is really wet, 4 maybe to saturation, and she is quite a heavy wetter. Usually use these 'out and about' as they contain well and have never had leakage probs, but I do always use the booster that comes with them.

Can't remember how long it took to reach max absorbency - thay were DSs first ever cloth nappies and have been on the go for over 3 1/2 years!

Have to add that I do really like this nappy - it is fairly slim/nicely shaped and has worked well on both DCs - who are very different in shape. Doesn't absorb enough for overnight but I just boost it a lot and use a larger wrap for this (and a large fleece liner).

It's cotton and probably been washed about 5-6 times now.

Definitely agree it's good for containment in the poo dept.

The booster... Well DD's a bit small to have the front folded up right now. I think it fits more snugly folded down. But we did have success using it overnight last night with the snap in booster and another (bamboo) booster.

I use Motherease and Popolini onesize nappies with boosters when DS1 goes to nursery and they rarely last more than 2-3 hours before leaking.

I have just started to add extra boosters to them to make them last a bit longer.

The organic cotton ones are definitely slightly more absorbant than the ones with cotton or stay-dry boosters.

I prefer tots bots for my heavy-wetter even if they are much more bulky, but nursery only seem able to cope with onesize nappies without getting all flustered and confused

You should be up to a good abosrbency by 6 washes.

I use onelife overnight with a fleece liner and the booster it comes with and never have leaks.
